https://ift.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/1541-4337.12756 The above article is about African nightshades in sub-Saharan Africa, and it's fascinating. It mentions some of Solanum retroflexum's nutritional value (its leaves in particular). I only refer to Solanum retroflexum as wonde...read more

Wonderberries go excellently with ham. They add a nice zesty flavor. If I eat a few right before I bite into some ham, it also enhances the flavor of that ham. Wonderberries go well with tomatoes. Combined with tomatoes, they're great cooked in frittatas, and on pizza; they're less remarkable...read more

Remember those wonderberries that I scattered over several planting spits last year so that they would reseed? Well, they're doing it! This spit has the most volunteers in it, I believe: Yeah, there are bits of wood in there. We had a woodpile covering this part of the garden during the ...read more

Some people think wonderberries are black nightshade, such as is seen on one of the posts in the following thread on another forum: https://www.homesteadingtoday.com/threads/anyone-ever-grow-wonderberry-plants.298177/ However, I've never found any evidence that they are black nightshade, othe...read more

I found my first worm in a wonderberry (in all the three years I've grown it). It was late in the season. It appeared to be the same as the worms that get in over-ripe blackberries.

I saw a bee dangling from a wonderberry flower (by its hands) for a really long time. I thought maybe it was pollinating it, but I waited, and waited, and it was still there. So, I attempted to help it out, and as soon as it saw me get close, it stopped and flew off. So, it wasn't stuck, it seem...read more

I harvested wonderberries, today, and I found one with fused fruits! The fruit was comprised of three fruits stuck together into one fruit. I've been looking for unusual wonderberries for breeding purposes, such as to breed bigger wonderberries (that's one of the reasons I'm growing so many). I ...read more

Today, I tried wonderberries on pizza for the first time, and the result was awesomeness. I think this could really catch on if more people tried it. Another taster said that it was 'actually really good'. To my tongue, they add a sweet and tangy taste with olive-like qualities. It seemed to add...read more

My mom makes very frittata-like omelets. We call them omelets, anyhow. I decided to try to make one today, for the first time. I don't know exactly how she does it, but I guessed to fill in the gaps, and I think I'm right, because it turned out well. Yes, I used ingredients my mom wouldn't have,...read more

Those who grow wonderberries might appreciate this (religious) video, entitled Flecks of Gold, at harvest time: https://youtu.be/fEfg-Z-TOc8 "The patient accumulation of these little flecks has brought me great wealth." I spent about an hour or so harvesting all our ripe wonderb...read more

I saved a whole bunch of wonderberry seeds, today. I got about three herbal tea bags full. They were from less than a large strainer full of berries. I saved a single bag full ago this season, but I wanted a whole lot (so I can share them comfortably).

I saved wonderberry seeds, yesterday. I put a handful of berries in the blender, added water, and blended on the lowest setting. The water turned very purple! I don't think that happened last year. Anyway, after that, I removed the fluids (and added more to clear it, and removed them again,...read more
